I hope everyone had and amazing 4th of July weekend filled with friends, family and of course…good food! Indulging in moderation is part of life – so don’t worry just get back on track today with these 7 tips for detoxing after a festive weekend.
1. Drink Lemon Water
Drink extra water today with fresh lemon squeezed into it. The water will help rehydrate your body and flush out toxins – and the lemon fights bloating and adds delicious, fresh flavor.
2. Fill Your Diet with Fruits and Vegetables
Up your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables after an indulgent weekend. Eat 2 servings of fruits or vegetables at every meal to get a boost of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
3. Sweat it Out with Cardio
Get your heart pumping and sweat going with a supercharged cardio workout like this 30-minute kickboxing routine. Sweat out the toxins from the weekend and feel refreshed!
4. Cut out Sugar and White Bread
While a healthy diet should keep sugar and processed breads to a minimum in general…especially after the 4th of July weekend, cut out processed flour and sugar to beat the bloat and get back on track!
5. Add a Green Juice
Whether or not you juice regularly, this is a perfect time to start! Add a green juice each day this week to supercharge and detox your system. If you own a juicer, try a delicious green juice recipe like this one from Young and Raw. You can also stop by Whole Foods or your local smoothie/juice shop and pick one up!
6. Detox Yoga Sequence
Yoga is an amazing way to detox after a weekend. Try this detox sequence from Yoga with Adrienne to get the blood flowing and muscles energized with a sweaty sequence filled with twists to ring out the body.
7. Avoid Caffeine
Caffeine dehydrates the body, so trade your normal cup of joe this week for a cup of herbal or decaf green tea. There are so many amazing flavors you can try that taste delicious. Ginger is one of my favorites that also helps boost digestion.
