What to Eat Before a Workout
Studies have shown that eating something small before a workout can help you burn MORE calories. Opt for something with protein and carbs and finish it 45 minutes to an hour before you start your workout. Having some fuel in your system before a workout will allow you to push yourself harder and further to make the most of your workout time and improve your strength and endurance. Here are some great pre-workout snack ideas:
Apple and 2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter
Whole Wheat Toast and 1 Tablespoon Peanut or Almond Butter
Steel Cut Oatmeal with Sliced Bananas, Blueberries, or Nuts and Dried Fruit
Handful of Almonds and 1/4 Cup Raisins
Protein Bar – Think Thin, OatMegabar
With protein and carbs these pre-workout snacks will fuel your system and jump start your workout. Also, be sure to stay hydrated before, during and after your workout as well to prevent dehydration. Stay healthy and work hard!
