During cold and flu season it is important to make sure you are eating enough antioxidant rich foods in your diet. One of my favorite ways to get antioxidants in my week is to eat blueberries! So delicious and absolutely packed with antioxidants along with so many other incredible vitamins and minerals. This smoothie is so tasty (and the color is incredible right?) and packed with protein, healthy carbs, and the antioxidants you need to keep your immune system strong during the winter months. The reds powder is optional…you can find it in any health foods store and is an antioxidant supplement. Look for one that is organic with all natural ingredients!
Ingredients:
1/2 Cup Fresh/Frozen Blueberries
1/2 Frozen Banana
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
1 Teaspoon Reds Powder (Antioxidant Supplement)
Directions:
Blend together the banana, almond milk, blueberries and protein powder until smooth. Adjust the consistency to your taste by adding extra ice or more almond milk to make it more or less thick. I love using fresh blueberries because there is so much flavor, but frozen will work just as well. I use frozen bananas because they blend better and help make the smoothie cold without chunks of ice.
