It is easy to find fun ways to stay active on your vacation. Make it a goal to plan something active for every day. Whether you go canoeing or kayaking on the ocean, hike through the city or park, or schedule an early morning sweat session at the resort gym, staying active on your vacation is essential. Plan activities with friends to make staying active even more fun, and resist the urge to spend the entire day laying on the beach. Get up early to take a walk along the beach and then once the sun is out, enjoy laying out without feeling guilty!

2. Eat Clean and Delicious

Part of the fun of vacationing is enjoying new restaurants and eating out with your friends. You can also take the time though, to eat clean and healthy since you will have more time and a less stressful week. Take a break from unhealthy take out, energy drinks, and fast food that sneaks in during stressful weeks and enjoy eating fresh healthy foods. Especially if you are vacationing somewhere tropical, take the opportunity to taste and enjoy fresh, local fruits and vegetables.

3. Bring a Resistance Band

Pack a simple, portable resistance band to use for mini workouts in your hotel room. Resistance bands are great because they are so light and easy to throw in you carry on bag, but you can do so many amazing workouts with just this one piece of equipment and a small amount of space. Try my Fitness On the Go Workout for a simple routine you can do anywhere, anytime.

4. All Things in Moderation

Vacationing is all about letting loose and enjoying your time – but keep in mind that the “all things in moderation” motto is a good to keep in mind. Definitely enjoy a margarita on the beach, but follow it up with lots of water and maybe a fresh squeezed green juice. Take the opportunity to eat out at some amazing places, but plan for one big meal a day, and keep the others clean and healthy.

5. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

One of the most important things to remember while vacationing, especially if you are at a beach, is to drink plenty of water. If you are out in the sun and heat  you need even more water, so carry a water bottle with you at all times so you can rehydrate throughout the day.

6. Catch Up on Sleep

Vacation is the perfect time to catch up on some zzz’s and relax. Take the time to get full nights of sleep so you can feel rested and rejuvenated. As much as you want to stay busy on vacation taking advantage of everything there is to do, be sure to get sleep so you do not return from your trip needing a vacation from your vacation! Getting a solid 8 hours of sleep a night will help you feel even more amazing when you get back.

Have fun on your vacation or spring break trip! Stay healthy and safe! <3
