Summer Girl’s Summer Reading List 2015

Summer is a great time to catch up on reading some of those books that have been sitting on your nightstand for an eternity. Dust off the old volumes, throw them in your beach bag, and get ready for a summer of inspiration, revelation and entertainment from the 10 books on my Summer 2015 reading list. A little non-fiction, a little light beach readying and a few classics mixed in for good measure (I was an English lit major after all): ) Get those amazon prime accounts ready and add these to your kindle or book list for the summer!

2. Sense and Sensibility

Every summer reading list should include at least one Jane Austin book, and Sense and Sensibility is one of my favorites. If you have not read this one I definitely recommend it…and if you have then you might want to read this one again like I do every summer.

3. Eat Pray Love

I love a good travel book and Eat, Pray, Love combines inspiration and humor in a beautifully written memoir. Elizabeth Gilbert travels across Indonesia, Italy and India to discover herself and her purpose in life.

4. All The Light We Cannot See

This critically acclaimed New York Times Bestseller won the Pulitzer Prize, and follows a blind French girl and German boy who meet during World War II in occupied France.

5. The Alchemist

If you are looking for some inspiration and self discovery this summer – this is the book for you. This masterpiece follows a shepherd boy who goes on a quest for worldly treasure, and ends up finding something much more.

6. Gone With The Wind

Gone With The Wind is one of my favorite movies, but I have yet to read the book which is one of the best selling novels of all time. Considered by many to be the great american novel, Gone With The Wind is an American classic.

7. Beneath The Surface: Killer Whales, SeaWorld, and the Truth Beyond Blackfish

Written by John Hargrove who worked with 20 different whales at 2 separate SeaWorld facilities, this book exposes the truth behind SeaWorld and the treatment of orca whales. In addition the book explores the incredible ways animals can touch and influence humans.

8. The Paris Wife

Set in Paris, this book captures the love story of Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley who lived in Paris during the Jazz age. This New York Times Bestseller is a story of love, ambition and betrayal.

9. Wild

10. Steve Jobs
